Albert NIETO

 

Has been one of the interpreters who has contributed the most to the dissemination of Spanish piano and chamber music, as he has premiered more than ninety works, highlighting the premieres of Recóndita harmony by Xavier Montsalvatge, and Aulaga 1 by Juan Hidalgo Codorniu.

A favorite student of Rosa Sabater and Frédéric Gevers, he has participated in fifteen albums, recording works by Albéniz, Granados, Guridi, Blancafort, Gerhard, Montsalvatge, Luis de Pablo, Bernaola, Guinjoan, Josep Soler, Marco, José Luis Turina, Carles Guinovart, Charles, Casablancas, Erkoreka, Lauzurika, Durán, Brotons (complete of his Duo Sonatas with piano), Ángel Oliver (integral for piano), up to thirty more contemporary composers.

In the investigative aspect, the publication of a critical edition of the Iberia Suite by Isaac Albéniz stands out, and is accompanied by the recording of some of the pieces, This work has received highly praising reviews.

​

He is a founding member of the Gerhard Trio, with whom he has recorded the integrals of Gerhard, Montsalvatge and Granados’s works for strings and piano. He has participated in festivals and cycles such as those of Granada, Santander, Fundación March, San Sebastián, Peralada, Bordeaux...

​

He has been a soloist in numerous orchestras and has performed alongside clarinetist Joan Enric Lluna, flutist Jaime Martín, cellist Asier Polo and violinists Víctor Parra and Santiago Juan, among many other musicians.

​

He is the author of six books on piano pedagogy (The piano fingering, The resonance pedal, Contents of the piano technique, The group piano class, The expressive gesture of the pianist: the spirit of the direct, and Tecleando) and one on musical dissemination (The expressive gesture of the musician or how to enjoy a concert).

​

He has a doctorate in Music, and has served as a professor of piano in various conservatories, also collaborating in various centers of preparation for piano competitions.
