Symposium dedicated to the research and practice of different types of keyboard instruments
The PERFORMA CLAVIS INTERNACIONAL Symposium has been conceived as a trilateral cooperation effort between the graduate music schools of three universities in the state of São Paulo: the Institute of Arts of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), and the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo (USP). Since its third edition the Symposium also has the collaboration of the Department of Music of the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences, and Letters of Ribeirão Preto (FFCLRP-USP).
Idealized by Dr. Edmundo Hora, the priority of the symposium is to strengthen, within the national academic and artistic realm, the scholarship of research, artistic practice and teaching in keyboard performance and interpretive practices, namely piano, fortepiano, harpsichord, clavichord and organ. The theme of this edition of PERFORMA CLAVIS INTERNACIONAL is "The Practices in the different keyboard instruments and the challenges of the 21st century".

It will be hosted by the Department of Music of the FFCLRP-USP with the participation of keyboard professors from the three promoting institutions, as well as eight international guests: the pianist and musicologist Luca Chiantore (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, Spain), the pianist Eliane Rodrigues (Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, Belgium), the organist Martin Gester (Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg, France), the harpsichordist Aline Zylberajch (Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg, France), the clavichordist, organist and harpsichordist Benjamin Steens (HEAR Strasbourg), the Spanish pianist Albert Nieto, the pianist/fortepianist Chi-Chen Wu (University of Wyoming, USA), and the pianist Jerico Vasquez (Shorter University, USA). The biennial symposium has fulfilled its purpose to bring together researchers, musicians, professors, and students in an environment of scientific cooperation and artistic collaboration where reflective, theoretical and critical study and artistic and teaching practices reveal themselves as complementary territories.
This is the sixth Performa Clavis International symposium edition, and the first one totally online. Dr. Fátima Corvisier chairs the 2020 symposium.
